The Venture Foundry FAQ's

Who is eligible to apply?

  • Companies must be located within designated Appalachian counties in Kentucky, Mississippi, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, or West Virginia to qualify. See eligle counties HERE.

Where does the Foundry operate?

  • Most support is provided remotely, but in-person visits may occur when needed.

How are participants selected?

  • Applications undergo an internal screening for fit and potential. All applicants receive feedback when possible. 

What does it cost?

  • Most costs are subsidized through an Appalachian Regional Commission grant. Any participant costs are discussed and agreed upon before work begins.

What is expected of participants?

  • Active engagement, openness to feedback, and completion of pre/post assessments to measure progress.

Will I receive funding after completing the Foundry?

  • The Foundry helps make companies more investable, but does not guarantee investment from AIA or other investors. 

How does the process work?

  • Applications are accepted on a rolling basis- not a cohort model.  We provide support as soon as you're ready. 

What are the benefits?

  • Expert guidance, expanded networks, practical business, and potential exposure to investors from the AIA network.
